Community Moderation Policy
Effective Date: May 12, 2026
This policy describes how Don't Lose Your Way moderates anonymous community submissions to maintain a safe, supportive environment.
What We Moderate
We moderate all community voice submissions before they are published on the platform. This includes any anonymous reflections, stories, or messages submitted through the community features.
Content That Will Not Be Published
The following types of content will not be published:
Crisis-Related Content
- Explicit expressions of intent to harm oneself or others
- Descriptions of suicide methods or self-harm instructions
- Content that could encourage or trigger self-harm in others
Instead of publishing this content, we display a message directing users to crisis resources (988 Lifeline, Crisis Text Line).
- Hate speech or discrimination: Content targeting any group based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or other protected characteristics
- Harassment or bullying: Content that attacks, threatens, or intimidates individuals or groups
- Personal information: Content containing names, phone numbers, addresses, emails, or other identifying information
- Promoting violence: Content that encourages or glorifies violence
- Illegal content: Content that promotes illegal activities
- Spam or advertising: Commercial content or repetitive submissions
- Medical advice: Content that provides specific medical or psychiatric advice to others
Content That Is Welcome
We encourage submissions that are:
- Personal reflections and experiences with mental health challenges
- Messages of hope, resilience, and encouragement
- Honest stories about difficult times and how you got through them
- Creative expressions — poetry, short thoughts, affirmations
- Sharing what helps you cope, stay grounded, or find your way
Moderation Process
- All submissions are reviewed before publication. Nothing is published automatically
- Review happens within a reasonable timeframe — this is not instantaneous
- Submissions may be edited for clarity or to remove identifying information before publication
- Submissions that do not meet our guidelines are not published
- We cannot provide individual feedback on why a submission was not published
Privacy & Anonymity
- Community voice submissions are anonymous by default — we do not collect names or contact information
- Do not include personal identifying information in your submission (yours or anyone else's)
- We may track IP addresses for safety and moderation purposes, but these are never displayed publicly
- We cannot contact individual submitters — submissions are anonymous
Enforcement
If a user repeatedly submits content that violates this policy:
- We may restrict or block access from the associated IP address
- We may temporarily or permanently disable submission features for problematic sources
- We report content involving imminent harm to appropriate authorities when possible and required by law
