I am happy with myself. I relax and enjoy my life.

Laughter is a common sound around me as I live my life joyfully.

I watch a child in the park running and playing and I hear his genuine laughter. His mind is undivided as he fully enjoys every moment. He is truly happy and carefree. I am this child.

It is true that I have responsibilities and a busy life. Each day, as I look in the mirror while getting ready to face the world, I make a decision. I choose the kind of day I permit myself to have: today I choose to be happy.

As I travel through my day, come what may, I breathe deeply and smile. I feel the lighthearted happiness of the child playing in the park. When I close my eyes, I am there and I am happy.

My life fills me with joy, and I accept this joy as the sustaining part of my life.

Today I allow my spirit to play at the park. My body may be at work but my spirit is reaching for the trees as I swing higher and higher.

I look into my mirror and I choose to be happy. I breathe deeply and I make the conscious decision to enjoy life.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Where was my favorite place as a child?
2. If my day begins to go astray, can I choose to begin again?
3. When I close my eyes, can I travel to my happy place from my childhood?

It Is Okay For Me To Take Care Of Myself First

It is okay for me to take care of myself first.

By taking care of myself first, I am better able to care for others.

I enjoy taking care of myself. I am able to happily do the things that I know I need to do to make me a better person. By getting the sleep I need, eating healthy foods, exercising, and taking time to relax and meditate, I become a more centered, healthier person. I can offer more to others when I am in full health.

When I allow myself to slip from my healthy routines, or if I overextend myself, I have less to offer others. Because of this I need to make my care my first priority.

Caring for myself first ensures that I have the energy I need to run and play with my children. I am able to happily take the time to curl up with them and read a story before bed time. I am able to rise out of bed in the morning and guide my family into the day ahead of us with a healthy breakfast and energetic morning routines.

I can do all these things and more because I have first taken care of myself.

Today I will eat healthy foods, I will exercise, and I will take time to relax and recharge. I will think positively and I will get the sleep I need. I will take care of myself first, so I am better able to take care of others.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. Have I eaten healthy foods today?
  2. Have I taken time out for myself to relax and enjoy?
  3. Have I gotten the sleep that I need?

I Have High Standards For Myself And My Life

I have high standards for myself and my life.

I believe that we receive in life what we are willing to tolerate. Having high standards is very important to me. My income, health, performance, and the quality of the people in my life are mostly determined by my standards.

When my standards are high, I am more successful, and my life is more enjoyable.

I only allow people into my life that bring kindness and support. I am willing to let go of those people that fail to treat me the way I deserve to be treated. I know there are plenty of great people out there that are available to be my friend or partner.

I have high standards for my diet and exercise routine. The foundation of my health rests on these two things. I focus on healthy foods and an effective method of exercise. I am very consistent when it comes to my diet and exercise.

I maintain very high standards regarding how I use my time. My success and progress are controlled by how I spend my time. Having a high standard in this area is critical to my life.

I Release Myself From The Need For Approval

I release myself from the need for approval.

I know living my life for others can only end poorly. At the end of the day, I can only please myself. I know my values and what is important to me. I live my life according to my own rules.

I allow others to live by their values and rules. By allowing others this privilege, I am giving myself permission to enjoy the same opportunity.

Worrying about the opinions of others is a mistake. Everything I could ever possibly say or do is viewed negatively by someone. It is impossible to please everyone, so I choose to please myself.

When I seek approval, I make others more important than me. This is unfair. My needs, desires, and interests are just as important as anyone else’s.

I value myself and the life I have been given. I seek to put my own unique mark on the world. There are things I have to offer that can only be offered by me. Seeking approval stifles my individuality.

My self-esteem depends only on my opinion of myself. The opinions of others are irrelevant to me. I am making my own path in the world and building a life that is meaningful to me.

My opinion of my life is what matters.

Today, I am doing what I believe is best for me and my life. I release myself from any concern about the opinions of others or their approval. I only need my approval. When I have that, I am happy.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. When have I done something just to get approval from others? How did it work out?
  2. What do I want from life that I am afraid to admit to others? Why am I afraid?
  3. What would I do with my life if I didn’t care what anyone else thought?

I Love And Approve Of Myself No Matter What

I love and approve of myself, no matter what.

I am a valuable person and make worthwhile contributions to the world. Each day, in big and small ways, I remind myself of this. In any circumstance, I know that I am worthy.

Knowing my own value is important to me. Therefore, I cultivate thoughts that encourage me in what I am good at and forgive myself for any mistakes. I consciously invest my time and efforts in recognizing my own worth.

If I experience situations in which I begin to feel a lack of self-approval or self-love, I stop for a moment to take a deep breath. As I breathe, I remember that my value is independent of any external circumstances or actions I take. I love and approve of myself always.

My self-esteem radiates out from me and is reflected back by others. They easily see my sense of self-worth and act in accordance with it.

If someone treats me in an unsatisfying way, I ask myself how I would prefer them to act. Then, I ensure that I am following my own good advice. I set the example for how I would like to be treated!

Today, I am thankful that I feel good about myself and treat myself with the utmost care and kindness. I seek out opportunities to exemplify self-love to enrich my life and the lives of those I love.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. What are three things I can do to be kinder to myself today?
  2. Are there times when I feel less than loving toward myself?
  3. What can I do at those times to bolster my positive energy?

I Forgive Myself For My Mistakes I Am Human

I forgive myself for my mistakes. I am human.

Mistakes are inevitable and I accept that. I know that I make mistakes every now and then, just as everyone else does. After all, no one is perfect! I let go of any temptation to beat myself up about it and, instead, I move on.

First of all, I admit my mistakes and forgive myself. Then I focus on what I can do to lessen its impact.

I do what I can to make up for my gaffes. If I need to apologize, I make a sincere apology and ask if there is something I can do to make things right. If I need to do something over, I start it immediately. If I neglected to do something I was supposed to, I do it.

Then, I look for the silver lining. What can I learn from this mistake? Mistakes always teach me something and enable me to grow. Oftentimes, a little mistake brings solutions to light that I never thought of before.

It reminds me of something Thomas Edison said when he was experimenting with the light bulb. He said, “I learned a thousand ways of how not to make a light bulb.” The point is: each mistake we make brings us one step closer to success.

I realize that the term “mistake” is not synonymous with the term “bad.” I look creatively at my mistakes. I seek opportunities to create positive outcomes from my slip-ups.

Today, I choose to have an optimistic attitude about my mistakes and find something positive about each one.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. Do I get angry with myself when I make a mistake?
  2. Do I openly admit my mistakes and do what I can to make the situation better?
  3. What can I learn from a recent mistake?
